I am a multi-media artist who enjoys using oils, pastels, fiber, water colors, colored pencils, and encaustics. I also enjoy creating jewelry with fine silver, copper, and polymer clay.

Very early in my life I was attracted to the world of art. . When I was thirteen years old I was given my first formal art lessons at the YWCA in downtown Washington, D.C. Later as a young adult I entered Catholic University where I studied design, drawing and painting with Kenneth Noland, well-known color school artist. I graduated from C.U. with a B.A. degree in education and a minor in art.

While raising a family, I continued to study, taking sculpture, art history, drawing and painting at Prince George’s Community College. There, I was a student of Jerry Parsons, Caroline Huff and Doyle Eskew, who had formed a friendship while they were students of H.I. Gates at The American University in Washington, D.C.

When we moved to Pennsylvania I enrolled in classes at Mt. Saint Mary’s University where I took up watercolor painting under the tutelage of Walter Nichols and oil painting with Helen Lee Jones. I have also studied locally with Elizabeth Prongas, watercolor artist, Rebecca Pearl, watercolorist, Amy Lindenberger, colored pencil artist, Laurie McKelvie, pastelist , and with pastel artist, Mark Brockman. Most recently I have studied with master pastelists, Richard McKinley and Albert Handell. And I continue to expand my skills by taking classes at  the Adams County Arts Council and the Franklin County Arts Council. I have exhibited a series of animal woodcut prints at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. and have shown watercolor and oil paintings at Mt. Saint Mary’s University, at the Delaplaine Center for the Arts in Frederick, MD., at Gallery 30, in Gettysburg, PA and at Strathmore Hall, in Montgomery County, MD. I show my work regularly at the Adams County Arts Council, the Franklin County Arts Council in the annual miniature show, and at the Chambersburg, PA. library. I was accepted into the Annual Adams County Juried Exhibition in 2014 and 2015. In the Annual Franklin County Art Alliance show, I have received second place awards in 2014 and 2015 for my oil and pastel works and the 2016 Godfrey Biehl award for best oil landscape painting.

I am a member of the Foothills Artists’ Annual Tour held each November in the Liberty Valley, Adams County, PA. I have recently been accepted as a member in the Pennsylvania Arts Experience of York, PA. paartsexperience.com
