ABOUT THE ARTIST
Alan Paulson is Professor Emeritus of Fine Arts at Gettysburg College where he joined the faculty in 1978 and chaired the Art Department from 1987-1992. He taught for over three decades there. Previously he held faculty posts at Colgate University, Hamilton, New York (1971-1978); The Layton School of Art, Milwaukee, Wisconsin (1970-1971); and the Louisville School of Art, Louisville, Kentucky (1965-1970) where he also served as the School’s Director.
He earned his MFA from the University of Pennsylvania; BFA from the Philadelphia College of Art (now University of the Arts); and an Associate in Technology Degree at Temple University.
Paulson’s almost half century of teaching has included numerous exhibitions and awards. His work spans many media, mostly in wood, bronze (a grant took him to Florence, Italy, where two bodies of work were cast) and steel (work at Sculpture Space in Utica, New York). He has had One-Man shows in New York City, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Louisville, Kentucky, and various Colleges and Universities.
